I am writing this post a few minutes before I head to the gym for a back workout and some HIIT cardio. But, today i'm not talking about HIIT or a particular muscle group, i'm talking about meal preparation.
One of the biggest problems I had in the beginning of my fitness journey was not being able to eat when I wanted. With work, school and my gym schedule, I would get pretty frustrated. I then realized that in order to eat when I desired, I would need to prepare my meals in advance and take them with me wherever I go.
So here I am today. Originally planning to write a post about HIIT cardio (I'll leave that for another day). But, when I noticed my pile of tupperware sitting on the counter in my kitchen and thought "hey, that looks like a castle!", I knew I had to write about it.
So here is my castle:
Beautiful, I know.
From the top to bottom I have a balsamic vinaigrette for my salad below, a chicken and spinach burger, some tabouleh, and finally my salad (lots of veggies and a serving of tuna). On the left you'll see my post workout protein shake with 1/4 cup of quick oats, and on the right a few almonds to snack on when I feel the need.
Now some people don't have access to a microwave at work, or school or wherever they are when they need to eat. Some days i'm in that situation, so I work around it. I take salads, and shakes, things that don't need to be heated. And, if you don't have access to refrigeration, invest in an insulated lunch bag and toss a couple ice packs in that sucker!
So the morral of this blog post is to be prepared for your day of eating well... and ZOMBIES. Be prepared for zombies.
Bye.
