Banana, Almond, and Green Tea Smoothie

I have always been a fan of green tea. There are many benefits of drinking the stuff (from fat oxidation, to preventing cancer, heart disease, and high cholesterol). I sometimes drink four to five cups a day! But, I recently started enjoying myself some matcha green tea. Matcha green tea is a finely powdered green tea. You can make a cup of tea with it, as well as a fantastic latte.

You can find matcha powder at specialty tea shops, as well as some natural food stores. I buy mine from a local tea shop; Lady Baker's Tea Trolley. It can seem a little pricy, but you don't use much, so a little goes a long way!

Things for your smoothie:
  • 1 cup of almond milk (soy or regular milk works too, but unsweetened almond milk really cuts the calories down!)
  • 10-15 almonds ( a tbsp of almond butter works great, too)
  • 1 banana (if you peel it then freeze it, it adds a whole bunch of thickness to your smoothie)
  • 1 packet of stevia
  • 1 tsp of matcha green tea powder
  • 2-3 ice cubes
  • Vanilla protein powder (optional)

Directions:

BLEND EVERYTHING TOGETHER. (I prefer to throw all my ingredients in the air and use two machetes to chop them as fast as I can before they land.)

Drink it up! You'll be surprised how much better this tastes than those $5 matcha smoothies from the smoothie shops!
